HopSearch is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to use the key-combo Comma+Period to jump to the search input box on any page.
If the extension doesn't "know" where the search box is for a certain page, you can add it yourself from the extension pop-up menu which can be accessed with Alt+H or you could hunt for it in the Chrome extensions bar.
