En nuestros tiempos, el acceso a la tecnología para todos es necesario. Como parte de este proceso de facilitar el acceso a los recursos informáticos a miembros de poblaciones marginadas, se ha planteado el proceso de traducir varias herramientas informáticas a los idiomas de estas poblaciones. Especial atención merecen las traducciones de las redes sociales, puesto que estas son ampliamente conocidas y utilizadas por la juventud a nivel global. En este sentido, y con el espíritu de fomentar el uso de los idiomas indígenas se presenta la traducción de Facebook al idioma maya-k'iche', de Guatemala. La intención de este proyecto pionero es poner al alcance de esta juventud los recursos en su idioma para fomentar su uso y hacer patente su importancia. Más que un recurso simbólico de valoración lingüística, este proyecto pretende ser un catalizador de identificación lingüística entre los jóvenes.
