YouGoogling: (verb)

1) To YouGooglize at a funeral.

2) To post everything you search for to Twitter, just like Captain Picard does at @PicardGoogling

After you install this and do a Google search, you'll get a pop-up asking you to authenticate to Twitter. After authenticating, all subsequent searches should get posted to the specified Twitter account automatically. Weird! Gross! Amaze your friends!

Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would do this. It's one thing to be open on a social network, and quite another to publish all your searches to Twitter live. They say that if you ask a person about what's important to them, they may tell you what they think is important, but if you want to see what's really important to a person, look at their browser history. (My auto-tweet of browser history plugin is coming soon!)

Known bugs:

- The first time the extension detects you searching, it will have you authenticate to Twitter. You'll need to refresh your search after authenticating for it to get tweeted.
- The extension needs an icon on the status bar (and an icon in general).
- If the tweet fails for some reason, you never find out why. We also don't reauthenticate if the token expires for some reason.
- No settings of any kind yet.
- I'm considering adding a tweet button to the search history page as well for mobile searchers, but right now that doesn't exist.

Troubleshooting - what to do if this extension doesn't work:

1) I usually search by opening a new tab and typing a search into the address bar. Try that.
2) If it doesn't work, email me ([email protected]) and include as many details as possible about the following:

- The address of the search results page
- The exact steps you took to perform a search (as detailed as possible, starting from the moment you opened a new window or tab)
- The version of the extension you currently have installed

Advanced troubleshooting:

There are two different JavaScript consoles that might have useful information. Keep a JavaScript console open on the tab where you're performing the search. Open a console by opening the menu and picking Tools > JavaScript console. Also open a JavaScript console for the background page by going to chrome://extensions and clicking the "background page (inactive)" link for this extension. The output from those consoles along with the address and steps requested above would be very helpful during troubleshooting.
