The Associazione Sportiva Roma, literally the Sports Association of Rome, abbreviated to AS Roma, commonly called Roma, is an Italian soccer club founded on 7 June 1927 and based in Rome. The colors of the club, yellow and red, more specifically purple and gold, are those of the city of Rome. The symbol of Roma is the Capitoline Wolf, associated with the legend of the foundation of the Eternal City.
Internationally, the club is known worldwide for the loyalty that is carried by some of its best players. Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi, current captain and vice-captain of the club, Roman-born and world champions in 2006, have been donning the jersey giallorosso since the beginning of their career despite the offers received from the best teams in Europe7.
