Description

Instagram - a free application for sharing photos and video with social networking elements that lets you take pictures and video, apply filters, and distribute them through its service and a number of other social networks [5]. Instagram allowed to take photos of square shapes - like the camera instant photography Polaroid, Kodak Instamatic and medium format cameras 6 × 6 (the majority of the mobile photoappendices uses an aspect ratio of 3: 2), but with the August 26, 2015 Instagram has introduced the ability to add photos and videos from the landscape and portrait orientation, without clipping to a square shape.

The application is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch on iOS 4.3 and above, as well as phones on Android 2.2 and above with OpenGL ES 2. It spreads through the App Store and Google Play, respectively [6]. November 21, 2013 appeared Instagram Beta for Windows Phone 8 [7].

In April 2012, Instagram was acquired by Facebook. The purchase price was US $ 300 million cash and 23 million shares of the company that totaled $ 1 billion.

Instagram Development began in San Francisco, when Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger decided to reorient its Burbn project on mobile photo [9] [10]. The app appeared in the app store Apple's App Store October 6, 2010 [11].

By the end of February 2013 Instagram announced 100 million active users [40]. At the end of March 2014, Mark Zuckerberg announced the registration of 200 millionth user [41].

In July 2011, Instagram announced that 100 millions of uploaded photos. In August of the same year their number reached 150 million [42] [43]. By November of 2013 users have downloaded is already 16 billion images [44].
