Arizona is a state in the southwest of the United States and is also one of the western and mountainous states. This state is the sixth largest in the United States and the 14th largest in the United States. The capital and largest city is Phoenix. Arizona is also one of the four corner states, bordering New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California and Mexico, and one of them in contact with the southwest corner of Colorado. The border between Arizona and Mexico is 389 miles long and is located north of the border between Sonora and Baja California in Mexico. The state flower is a columnar cactus. The state bird is a donkey. Southern Arizona is known for its hot summers and warm winters. There are pine forests, Douglas firs, and spruce trees in northern Arizona; the Colorado Plateau; some mountain ranges (such as the San Francisco Mountains); and large, deep canyons with more mild summer temperatures and considerable snowfall in winter.
