This extension lets you search any website from one search box. Thousands of search engines have already been added. You can also add your own.
Activate the extension using ALT + S. Then type your search and choose the destination.
Try your searches outside Google:
- Informational searches such as Wikipedia, Urban Dictionary, and Wiktionary
- Video searches such as YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo
- Image searches such as Google Images, Pinterest, and Flickr
- Translations such as Bing Translator, Google Translate, and Babylon
- Map searches such as MapQuest, Maps.me, and OpenStreetMap
- Shopping searches such as Amazon, eBay, and Google Shopping
- XE currency conversions
You can also use it for local searches, such as:
- Costco, Home Depot, and Best Buy in the USA
- Canadian Tire, Staples, and Hudson's Bay in Canada
- Bunnings, Coles, and Kmart in Australia
- Apoteket, ICA, and Elgiganten in Sweden
- ... and many more!
It's similar to tools like YubNub or DuckDuckGo !Bang shortcuts, just without the middle man.
Useful shortcuts:
- Hold down CTRL if you just want the first result in Google
- Use ALT for new tab
- Use SHIFT for new window
- Use ALT + SHIFT for background tab
- Use CTRL to search "lucky"
- Start your search with a space character to disable auto suggestions
Privacy:
Your searches don't leave your browser and hence can't be tracked. You can verify this in the "Network" traffic in Developer Tools (CTRL + SHIFT + I).
Why:
If you've ever tried to bend Google Chrome's address bar to your will, then this tool is probably for you. Registering "omnibox" keyword shortcuts for common search engines isn't quite enough and many sites don't implement the OpenSearch description format.
Also:
This extension also disables Google's "Redirect Notice" page when using "I'm feeling lucky".
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
