Twitter Swarm NLP

Description

This extension performs NEE (Named Entity Extraction) on the tweets you read and write on Twitter. If you tweet: "Had froyo for breakfast", a named entity would be "froyo". In the sense of Linked Data we identify such named entities via a URI, http://dbpedia.org/resource/Frozen_yogurt in the concrete case. You can see the extracted entites below each tweet (see the screenshot). In addition to that the extracted entities are then reported to a shared Google Analytics account via some Analytics event tracking code magic that allows us to build a ranking of the most-tweeted-about entities. The extension adds an auto-refresh feature to your timeline that pulls in new tweets automatically when they are available.

Collected data:
- the entities in the tweets you read and write on Twitter completely anonymously
- your Twitter username WITHOUT any relation at all to the extracted entities

This extension uses the following NLP Web services in parallel:
- AlchemyAPI
- DBpedia Spotlight
- OpenCalais
- Zemanta
