This data generation tool is used to create sample data on the fly within an existing SharePoint list, utilizing existing content types to determine the type of data to create. A large amount of items can be provisioned with varying data in a short period of time. Fields are dynamically read and understood prior to filling the list so that the script can understand how to provide the proper data. This tool can be very helpful in pre-populating a list with 5000 items to provide an accurate testing ground for large list compatibility during development.
USAGE
This tool supports SharePoint Online (SPO) and may also support on-premise. Simply browse to an existing list's view, and click the plugin icon. A dialog will appear requesting which content types should be populated, and will also provide an overview of the fields that are detected and support population. Provide the amount of items requested and proceed with the population. The population time varies based on the complexity of the list and content types being deployed.
