In the past 20 years the average score for golfers has not changed. This is despite the vast improvement in the quality of golf clubs, golf balls and golf course management. The total number of golfers has also not increased in the last 20 years.
Greig believes the lack of improvement in scoring and the lack of participation is directly caused by excessively technical swing instruction. Golfers become frustrated and give up on their goals or leave the game all together when attempting to emulate unachieveable Tour Pro swing models.
