What it does:
EngageMe tracks viewer engagement and emphasizes the most interesting parts of the video to the user in the progress bar. Users can skip to the parts of the video other viewers found useful, professors can track which parts of their lecture recordings were watched by the largest proportion of users (so they can track which concepts students are struggling with), and video producers can track which parts of the video their viewers find most interesting.
How it works:
The Chrome extension uses the HTML5 <video> tag, looking at when the user takes action to change the part of the video they are at. After the user is done watching this video, we push this information to the back end, which aggregates all user-tracked time data and determines which segments were viewed by at least 50% of the watchers. We then display this with a unique color onto the progress bar. Currently compatible with Youtube and UMich's lecture recording website, but will expand to several other platforms soon!
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
