As with many other email services, Gmail does not have the function to notify the sender of the status of its messages. That is, you can not find out if the recipient read your letter. But, this feature can be easily implemented by installing an add-on for Gmail, called MailTrack.
This is the Gmail add-on for Chrome, which lets you know if the messages you sent were successfully delivered and read by the recipient. To start using this add-on, just download it and install it in your Chrome browser, then log in to your Gmail email account.
