Skyscrapers are also known as super high-rise buildings, very high-rise multi-storey buildings. Originally a building of one or twenty floors, but now usually refers to tall buildings with more than forty or fifty floors. With the development of high-rise buildings in different places, the height of definition of skyscrapers that people recognize is slightly different. The first integrated iron frame load-bearing building was a four-story boathouse built in 1860 in Hines, England. It is 16 meters high and has a cast iron column and a wrought iron beam spanning 9 meters. It is fastened with bolts. But the place where skyscrapers are produced is the United States.
The first skyscraper with a load-bearing frame was 1884, a 10-story home insurance building built in Chicago in 1885, designed by Jenny. The iron bars connected together in the lower 6 layers are wrought iron beam frames, and the upper 4 layers are steel frames. Since then, steel frame skyscrapers have been built in the United States. As long as the frame is installed, the entire curtain wall of the entire skyscraper can be constructed separately at the same time, so the construction progress is very fast. The 55-story Gothic-style Woolworth Building in New York City was completed in 3 years and is 230 meters high. It was the tallest building in the world when it was completed in 1913.
