Description

This anti-spam filter works differently than the others currently available. Instead of trying to keep a list of all the things that spammers say, this script looks at each message and counts the number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and non-word characters (e.g. :poop: ) If the message is all caps, it gets marked as spam. If the message has more non-word characters than word characters then the message is marked as spam.

This web store version is meant to be easy to install for all users. It has some limitations. It always votes GROW and you cannot tweak the spam filter settings.

You can find a Tampermonkey version here: https://github.com/gardner/robin where you can tweak the allowed ratios of uppercase to lowercase and percentage of non-word characters. There is also the old-style blacklist filter. You can add words to the filter variable.

performance
This script binds to the DOM event instead of running a check at an interval. That means the code only runs when it needs to, instead of polling all the time, and the UI is updated seamlessly. The spam never appears to be then hidden later. It never shows up at all.

auto-vote
This script auto-votes to 'grow'! You can change this in the user script version which is available here: https://github.com/gardner/robin

What has inspired us?

Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
