HOW TO PLAY

• Use the arrow keys to move, avoid the ghosts. Get powerups and you can turn around to catch the ghosts. Some of the ghosts move faster than others. Each ghost has different rules for how they track you. Bonus items can help get you extra lives.
• The player navigates Packman through a maze containing various dots, known as Pac-Dots, and four multi-colored ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. The goal of the game is to accumulate points by eating all the Pac-Dots in the maze, completing that 'stage' of the game and starting the next stage and maze of Pac-dots. Between some stages, one of three intermission animations plays. The four ghosts roam the maze, trying to kill Packman. If any of the ghosts hit Packman, he loses a life; when all lives have been lost, the game is over. Packman is awarded a single bonus life points.

• Near the corners of the maze are four larger, flashing dots known as Power Pellets that provide Packman with the temporary ability to eat the ghosts and earn bonus points. The enemies turn deep blue, reverse direction and usually move more slowly. When an enemy is eaten, its eyes remain and return to the center box where the ghost is regenerated in its normal color. Blue enemies flash white to signal that they are about to become dangerous again and the length of time for which the enemies remain vulnerable varies from one stage to the next, generally becoming shorter as the game progresses.

The game screen is a maze, the corridors of which are filled with dots. The player's task is to control all the points in the labyrinth, controlling Pakman, while avoiding encounters with ghosts that are chasing the hero. At the beginning of each level, the ghosts are in a rectangular room in the middle of the level inaccessible to Pakman, from which they are eventually released. If the ghost touches Pakman, then his life is lost, the ghosts and Pacman return to their original position, but the progress of the collected points is preserved. If, when confronted with a ghost, Pacman has no additional lives left, then the game ends. After eating all the points, a new level begins in the same maze. On the sides of the labyrinth are two entrances to one tunnel, when entering into which Pacman and ghosts come out on the other side of the maze
