Termania.net Lookup

Description

This Google Chrome extension enables foreigners as well as Slovenian native speakers to search the extensive Slovenian
dictionary search engine Termania.net with the click of a single button.

I won't go into the details of Slovene grammar however everyone who has ever seen it knows how complex it is and how many word forms there are. And that myriad of forms causes real headaches to foreigners (and some native speakers, believe it or not) and finding their translations can sometimes be a real pain.

This extension takes away a lot of that pain since it automatically finds all the correct lemmas of those words thanks to the Morphological lexicon Sloleks 2.0 (by Dobrovoljc, Kaja; et al., 2019) which is openly accessible on this address http://hdl.handle.net/11356/1230

All the user has to do is to select the word and fire a search on Termania.net from the context menu. The extension will then try and find the correct lemma of the word and search for its definition on Termania.net and present the definition to the user in a popup window.

The user now also has the option to pick and chose any dictionary from Termania.net directly from Chrome's Menu bar!


NOTE ON INSTALLATION:
In order for the extension to use the Morphological lexicon Sloleks 2.0 it first has to import it into an IndexedDB database inside Chrome. All is done automatically however the setup may take up anywhere between 1 to 5 minutes during which time the extension will not work. This only happens on the 1st install. All further updates do not require this step.
