Allergic reactions to foods are the cause of more than 200,000 hospital visits and over 30,000 trips to the emergency room each year and these numbers only seem to be on the rise. Allergies in general are the most common medical conditions affecting children in the US today.Over 15 Million Americans and 1 in every 13 children are affected by food allergies.
The top eight highly allergenic foods are commonly referred to as the BIG-8 or Top-8, Include milk, soy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish, peanut being the most prevalent cause of allergic reactions in children, followed by milk or (lactose), then shellfish.
