N.B.: the "change privacy settings" permission is needed to fix a bug in Chrome where the the browser attempts to speed up web browsing by pre-resolving DNS entries and preemptively opening TCP and SSL connections to servers, and randomly freezes extensions. To counter that, 20SecondNews sets the Chrome option networkPredictionEnabled to "false". Hopefully the Chrome team will fix this in their next browser updates.
