Description

Nutello -- the New Tab Link Opener -- was built by United Virtualities to be a delicious spread on top of web sites, with one goal (chocolate flavoring aside): to ensure that all off-site links you click on, on any web site, open in a new tab.

The idea was born out of a frustration that many of us here felt. There are many sites we work with regularly where we want links to open in a new tab and they just don’t. The driver behind this was probably our deeply belovèd Jira. We live on Jira, only checking it non-stop all-day long (with the frequency with which other teams check Slack!) and when we include a link to a site or a screenshot or a document, it just keeps it in the same window, thus adding endless reloads when we inevitably go back to the original page.

But alas, no more! Now you can easily insure that all links go to new tabs, with the additional configuration option of choosing between all external links (to a different top-level domain), or all links at all. And to make the chocolate even tastier, you can even highlight all external links on the page with a little icon.

We would like to humbly thank Jorge Palomar (the lead developer), Agustina Alvarez (the lead designer), and JJ Segado and Morgan Friedman (we’re still unsure of their roles).

Most importantly, while developing the plugin, we listened to the following music:

Jorge listened to the Bee Gee’s “How Deep Is Your Love”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpqqjU7u5Yc

Agustina listened to Brandon Flowers’s “Crossfire”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AhU12zC8fc

JJ listened to DMA’s cover of Madonna’s “Beautiful Stranger”:

Morgan listened to Brigitte Bardot’s “Tu veux ou tu veux pas”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlxP5Yhg7S4

What has inspired us?

Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
