Created by the team at Hubbub Fundraising.
Writing great fundraising copy, that’s meant to engage and excite its desired audience, can be tricky. That’s why we’ve developed the Fundraising Copy Checker to assist fundraisers with writing better copy.
This extension for Google Chrome will help you to more easily check the copy that you want to use in your fundraising and engagement communications. By using the copy checker, you can feel more confident that what you’ve written will help you to further engage with your wider community. Whether you’re asking them to donate, respond to event invitations or to volunteer.
It’s important to note that this copywriting extension is not yet a grammar or spelling checker (we’re working on it). It does, however, check for the following:
How donor-led your copy is
How you use words to convey enthusiasm, rather than punctuation
How lengthy and/or complex sentences might be
Confusing or unnecessary words
Adverbs and weakening phrases
Use of the passive voice
To get feedback on copy that’s already been published to the web, simply follow these instructions:
1. Install this extension.
2. Once installed, select the purple Hubbub avatar icon, located in the top right-hand corner of your Chrome browser window. This will activate the copy checker.
3. Highlight the text you want to check
4. Right-click on the highlighted text and select ‘Copy Check Selection’ from the menu
5. Use the suggestions on the left-hand side of the Copy Checker to make adjustments to your copy.
If you’d like to get feedback on the copy that you’re yet to publish, please use the browser version of this tool via https://fundraisingcopy.net/.
We’ll continue to develop this extension, making it easier and better for your to use. If, however, you have feedback on the copy checker or how it can be improved, please email [email protected] to get in touch with our team.
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
