iDissent: The Safer Way to Cite
DESCRIPTION
iDissent is a must-have tool for lawyers and law students conducting legal research.
Install iDissent and never mistake a minority opinion for a majority holding again. iDissent highlights dissenting opinions, concurring opinions, and syllabi while you browse cases. With iDissent, you can clearly see the difference between holdings and other opinions, even when you're quickly skimming a case.
With iDissent, you won't need to keep hunting around to see which judge wrote which sentence of an opinion. When you "copy with citation" from minority opinions, iDissent adds appropriate parentheticals, complete with the authoring judge's name.
Whether you use WestlawNext or Lexis Advance, iDissent will speed up your legal research.
LICENSE
When you add iDissent to Google Chrome, you will begin your free trial experience. At the end of the trial, iDissent will stop working. At any time, you can upgrade to a paid license so that iDissent never expires.
DISCLAIMER
Lexis Advance users, please note that iDissent does not currently fully support every lower court opinion format in all states. We are continually working to add some of the more unusual opinion formats to our algorithm. If you spot a particular case that isn't getting marked up, bring it to our attention by contacting us at [email protected].
CREDITS
iDissent is an extension for Google Chrome developed by Brian Pilchik and Peter Wills of Harvard Law School. WestlawNext, Lexis Advance, and The Bluebook are property of their respective owners and are not affiliated with iDissent.
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
