Aston Martin is an English brand of luxury cars and racing, created in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, it is a subsidiary of Prodrive since 2007. The name Aston Martin comes from the name of its creator and the Aston Clinton coast race, won in 1914 by Lionel Martin1. The winged emblem, introduced in 1932 by Sammy Davis, a former pilot of the Bentley brand, originated from the Egyptian god Khépri, symbolized by a scarab. The name comes from the fact that Lionel Martin had created a car that won the Hill Racing named Aston Hill Climb. The merger of the two names gives Aston Martin.
