Audacity
Audacity is a simple free program with advanced features for recording and editing digital audio. Audacity can record audio from a microphone built into the mixer's OS or Line In, which allows using this program to record audio and digitize analog recordings from tapes or records. With some sound cards, you can also record streaming audio (for example, Internet radio).

In addition to recording audio, Audacity can be used to process (edit) all kinds of audio, including podcasts: normalization, cropping, and attenuation. You can change the speed and pitch of the recording. Also there are many functions for physical editing of several files (cutting, gluing, mixing). Among the supported formats: Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV and all formats supported by the libsndfile library.
