Tổng công ty Gas Petrolimex – CTCP được Sở Kế Hoạch Đầu tư Thành phố Hà Nội cấp phép đổi tên trong giấy chứng nhận đăng ký kinh doanh theo mô hình Tổng công ty từ 05.02.2013 (với tiền thân là Công ty cổ phần gas Petrolimex) có vốn điều lệ 502 tỷ đồng, là một trong các Tổng công ty mà Tập đoàn Xăng dầu Việt Nam (Petrolimex) giữ cổ phần chi phối trên cơ sở thực hiện Quyết định 828/QĐ-TTg ngày 31/5/2011 của Thủ tướng chính phủ, văn bản số 11490/BCT-TCCB ngày 27/11/2012 của Bộ Công Thương phê duyệt đề án cơ cấu lại Petrolimex và Nghị Quyết số 628/PLX-QĐ-HĐQT ngày 20.12.2012 của Petrolimex phê duyệt đề án cơ cấu lại để hình thành Tổng công ty Gas Petrolimex.
