11 bit studios S.A. is a game development company based in Warsaw, Poland. The company was officially formed on 11 September 2010, founded by former CD Projekt and Metropolis Software developers and staff members.[2][3][4] Currently, they employ approximately seventy people. The company's goal is to create games suitable for both hardcore gamers as well as casual gamers,[2] and to make games easily available through digital distribution.[5] 11 bit studios implement and deliver games to all main gaming platforms, including consoles, computers, and handhelds.[5][6] They are best known for their award-winning game, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, a real-time strategy reversed tower defense.[7] Their other game, This War of Mine, was well received by players and critics due to its depiction of the Siege of Sarajevo.[8]
Their most recent release, Frostpunk, sold over 250,000 copies in its first three days. Frostpunk depicts a dystopian/ late 19th century England that has been overtaken by the frost, and you are tasked with managing humanities last city. Frostpunk, as well as 11 Bit's other well-known title, This War of Mine, were both critically acclaimed for forcing the player to make hard moral choices in order to survive. Frostpunk is unique in that it is a city-builder game that also incorporates a thought and emotion provoking story
