The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel; English: the Eiffel Tower) stands on the south side of the Seine River in Paris, France. It was built in 1889 and was the tallest building in the world. The Eiffel Tower was named after the famous architect and structural engineer Gustav Eiffel, who was built by Schneider Iron (now Schneider Electric).
