Do you ever wish you could filter Hacker News to avoid the noise?
This extension will filter stories from domains that - per november 2015 - had more than than 2500 submitted stories but less than 40% had more than 3 votes. Domains with usergenerated content (as github.com or youtube.com) are not included.
Is this censoring?
- No, this is a way of limiting domains with a high amount of noise.
Will it hide a really interesting story?
- Yes, but any story that is number 1 will never be filtered (so if it's really good, you will still see it)
How can I see if anything is being filtered?
The sequence of numbers at the left side will skip the order of natural numbers.
I really want to see what is being filtered?
Open the page in incognito mode to avoid filtering anything.
Can I alter the list of domains being filtered?
- Not right now, but that is where I want to go with this plugin. Please help out making the code better at https://github.com/mathiasrw/no-noise-hacker-news
Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
