Minecraft Pocket Edition for Android devices has landed, and we’re just going to keep talking about it. Here is the scoop:

The game is a joy to play thanks to the Xperia Play’s controller. Shoulder buttons controll block placement and destruction and the face buttons are used to scroll through available blocks. It’s intuitive enough to where it becomes second nature pretty quick.
Connect through a local wireless network and play with others to sculpt your cubey utopia. Android Minecraft will hopefully add online play soon. How could they not?
The 3D graphics, simple colour schemes, and old school textures make it equally as cool as the PC counterpart. The neat sound effects are there but the music seems to be missing it’s juice.
Try building a tunnel through a mountain, and you won’t even feel the hours slip by. Then you realise that everything you had planned for the night has been superceded by geometric block breaking. Awesome.
Minecraft Pocket Edition is definitely a work in progress, but it’s cooler than most Android games, and you know it’s going to get better and better.
