The SHIELD is a spy agency of the universe of superheroes of Marvel Comics.
Nick Fury (a 1963-born character), a World War II veteran and a one-eyed super-spy, is the historical director of this agency, although G. W. Bridge's command was provided for some time. Nick Fury, as a result of his secret war against Latvia, has disappeared from circulation. The organization was led by Maria Hill until the events of Civil War. Tony Stark succeeded Maria Hill until the dissolution of the agency after the events of Secret Invasion.
