Saving a chat log to Google Docs seems like an easy way to archive your conversations, but copying and pasting does not preserve the actual text formatting. Instead, it includes the markup originally used to add the formatting, like asterisks and underscores. This add-on seeks to remedy this unsightly situation by scanning your chat log for any such markup, applying the correct formatting where appropriate, and even getting rid of the markup altogether.
Currently, the add-on supports *bold*, _italics_, and ~strikethrough~. Support for hyperlinks, quotes, lists, and code blocks may or may not be added in the future.
The markup this add-on interprets is based on that of Rocket.Chat, which is identical to that of Slack, at least as far as the supported markup is concerned. Please note that this is NOT the same as Markdown.
