This open-source extension aims to act as a stand-in for the missing functionality of muting words / phrases on Facebook. This can be used to automatically hide posts in the main news feed of Facebook which contain specifics words or phrases. For example, if you don't want to see chain mail asking people to copy and paste messages, add "copy and paste" to your muted words list and any post containing the phrase will be hidden.
The options menu of the extension will allow you to define a "local list" - which is a list of words / phrases you specify manually in the options screen. Alternatively, you can choose to use the URL source, and the extension will let you specify a remote wordlist that will be downloaded and used as the source of muted words instead (handy if you want to maintain one list for multiple installations).
The extension has been tested with both the "classic" Facebook interface and the new interface that is being rolled out to users as of May 2020.

Extore is a team of professionals who are passionate about creating extensions for web browsers. This devotion also gives us opportunity to appreciate work of other people. We get inspired by useful, open source extensions made by developers all over the world. Our strong belief is that one should share helpful add-ons with others. That’s why we’d like to present you our ever-growing list of favourite extensions that have inspired us. Moreover, as you probably have already learned, sometimes struggling for the best brings an end to the good. Talking about add-ons it often turns out that an upgrade is worse then previous version. Also it can become really tricky to get back to the beloved version of your favourite extension. That’s why we’re going to make not only the latest, but all versions of our favourite (and we hope yours too) add-ons available for download. No more compromises, just stick to the version you really like!
