Like many Chrome extensions you may need to restart Chrome to start seeing the blocker.
This extension updates the DOM of every website where it finds an ad. When you uninstall you may still have versions of those websites cached. Clear you cache (CTRL + R or CMD + R) to confirm that it is removed.

This extension was made for fun so it does not support a wide range of ad size. Just the main ones.
